From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Featherstone Castle , a Grade I listed building, lies 3 miles south-west of the town of Haltwhistle in Northumberland (grid reference NY674610).
In the 11th century the manor house on this site belonged to the Featherstonehaugh family. It has played an important important role in the battles between the English and the Scots. A pele tower was added in 1330 by Thomas de Featherstonehaugh. The building has been much developed since that time. In the 17th century it was remodeled and in the 19th century, between 1812 and 1820, it was again remodeled and extended.
It is now a large and complex country house which has been adapted with residential facilities to accommodate large groups.
