Although the use of "he" and "his" in gender ambiguous context was standard, this is no longer the case in many academic publications (the area discussed in this article). Since it does not introduce any ambiguity or awkwardness to use "her", I have reverted a change that changed "her" to "his". If it is important to you that it be "his", please bring it up here first.
