Fleut
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fleut was by definition a Dutch-made ship during the Golden age of sail. However it gained such popularity beyond its native waters that it was soon in use by other sea faring nations. The Fleut, also called the smaller version of the East Indiaman was an armed mercantile ship. It generally weighed 200-300 tons and 80 feet long. The Fleut was square rigged with two or three square-rigged masts. It usually carried 12 to 15 cannons, but was still an easy target for pirates.
