[edit] Work needed
This page is a mess and badly needs sorting out!
- Are floristry and flower arranging the same thing? Surely not: floristry in the modern sense is a profession, while flower arranging can also be a hobby (albeit one that is often taken very seriously!).
- The ikebana reference sits awkwardly and doesn't follow on from the first para.
- Does "floristry" today still imply the growing of flowers as well as retailing them?
- The original sense of florist (someone who bred and grew flowers for competition) needs to be mentioned.
- Personal grievances (or perhaps general trade ones - but we need cites sources as proof) are being aired (about supermarkets, internet sales and the Federal Trade Commission).
- Some awkward or confusing/misleading phraseology: "flowers, often spilling out into the street"(!) "Typically, a florist will organize flowers by season and holiday"(?) "major flower issues"(!!)

- I found a great early resource on flower arrangement. It is located at the following URL: http://www.oldandsold.com/articles23/flower-arrangement-1.shtml
It is an book on flower arrangement from 1923. Might be worth a look.

[edit] Just made some big changes
Hope you all like it! Please add/change more if you want.
Also, I would like help with moving the bulk of the intro into the contents. I think it is far too long and drawn out, and should be divided up.
Please add more styles of floristry! Off the top of my head I could only think of descriptions for the three.
One more thing! I was thinking that it would be really great to have more photos. That one 'MUM' photo really doesn't give a good example of floral arranging. It would be neat for each style mentioned to have it's own photo. Eddie mars 18:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC) 867-5309 call this number
[edit] hey
tell wut this shit has to do with biology
- Hey, why don't you sign your edits, and please, why don't you ask a question that makes sense? Why bring biology into this? I don't get it. Floristry is a business and/or arts and crafts. Did someone put something about biology in the article? I must be missing it. Eddie mars 18:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
