Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Thunderbird Super Coupe was the top of the line variant of Ford's Thunderbird from 1989 through 1995. The vehicle featured a 3.8 litre V6 engine mated to an Eaton supercharger system, giving over 200 horsepower and well over 300 ft·lbf of torque. Unlike other Thunderbirds of that period, which were powered by either a normally-aspirated 3.8 liter V6 or 5.0 liter V8 engine (4.6 liter beginning in 1994) mated to an automatic transmission, the Thunderbird SC could be had with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. Other exclusive SC features included an upgraded suspension with aluminum wheels and performance-rated tires, and upgraded front bucket seats (from standard T-Birds) with improved lateral support along with a console-mounted parking brake lever (replacing the foot-operated parking brake on base T-Birds).
The Super Coupe replaced the earlier Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, which featured a 2.3 litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which it shared with the Mustang SVO.
