Forst (Sorbian Baršć) is a town in Brandenburg, Germany. It lies east of Cottbus, on the German-Polish border. It is the capital of the Spree-Neiße district.[1] It is known for its rose garden and textile museum. It is part of the region of Lausitz (Lusatia) and is experiencing severe problems as a result of Germany's reunification.[citation needed] In the past, the town was known for textile manufacturing, but all textile plants have closed down in recent years.[citation needed] The town's population is approximately 22,000 (note that this figure includes the population in the outlying regions).
