Frances Gardner House
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frances Gardner House is the newest and at £128.10 per week for a single room, most expensive, but arguably the nicest non-catered hall of residence of University College London. It accommodates 217 students and is adjacent to an older hall of residence known as Langton Close (where facilities such as the Laundry and television room are located). The hall of residence is located in Wren Street, just off of Grays Inn Road in central London. The building was designed by architects Fielden Clegg Bradley with the basic design consisting of an out of proportion U-shape. The building initially had some problems after opening, notably leaking plumbing.
The building is twenty minutes walk from UCL and comprises 215 single rooms all with extremely thin walls and one double en suite room, arranged as cluster flats containing, all with their own large kitchen/dining area. All rooms have computer data points. [1] It was officially opened on Wednesday 4th February 2004, by HRH The Princess Royal..[2]
