Francis McLaren

Hon. Francis Walter Stafford McLaren (June 16, 1886 – 30 August 1917) was an English politician and soldier.

A younger son of Charles McLaren, 1st Baron Aberconway, he attended Eton and Balliol College, Oxford. Entering politics, he was elected as MP for Holland in 1910. Between 1910 and 1915, he served as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Lewis Vernon Harcourt. In 1916, he joined the Royal Flying Corps as a Second Lieutenant, and was subsequently killed in a flying accident in 1917.

On July 20, 1911, he married Barbara Jekyll, daughter of Col. Sir. Herbert Jekyll. They had two children:
- Maj. Martin John McLaren (1914–1979)
- Guy Lewis Ian McLaren (8 November 1915 – 18 August 1978), married Maryse Jubin and had issue

McLaren was killed in action in 1917 and his wife later married Bernard Freyberg.
