Frank Gore (born on May 14, 1983 in Coral Gables, Florida) is a professional football player in the National Football League. He graduated from the University of Miami.

Frank Gore was one of the nation's most heavily recruited and highly regarded running backs coming out of Coral Gables High School. He set a Dade County record for rushing yardage in a season in 2000 with 2,953 yards and 34 touchdowns in his senior year. He rushed for 1,559 yards and 28 touchdowns in 1999, in addition to 301 receiving yards and four more scores through the air.
Gore showed outstanding strength and peripheral vision throughout his high school career. He was the third-rated prospect in Dade County by The Miami Herald, as well as the fourth best in Florida. Gore was listed as the best tailback on the The Florida Times-Union Super 75 list and earned "Super Prep All-American". That newspaper also rated him the seventh best prospect overall and the top-rated running back in Florida.

As a true freshman for the University of Miami in 2001, Gore totaled 562 yards with five touchdowns on 62 carries (9.1-yard avg), the third-best season total in school history by a freshman and was named SportingNews Big East Freshman of the Year. Gore suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee before spring practice in 2002 spent the 2002 season recovering from knee surgery. He returned in 2003 and rushed for 100 yards in each of his first three games of the season, then tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the season's fifth game. Determined to continue his career, Gore returned again in 2004. Gore looked to change his luck and also changed his uniform number, discarding #32 for #3 and then ran for nearly 1,000 yards during the season.
In 28 games with the Miami Hurricanes, Gore rushed 348 times for 1,975 yards (a 5.7 rushing average) and seventeen touchdowns. His 1,975 yards rank seventh on the school's career-record list and his seventeen scores are tied for tenth.
Gore had beat out Willis McGahee in the spring of 2002 at the starting running back position while at Miami before his injury.

Gore finished the 2005 season as the 49ers first rookie leading rusher since 1990, when Dexter Carter led the team. He also had the 49ers most yards for a rookie since Roger Craig in 1983. During the season, Gore gained 608 yards on 127 carries and ran for three touchdowns, including a career long 72 yard run vs. the Washington Redskins.
After a loss in the 2005 season, he found his fellow teammates partying right after the game. His competitive attitude caused him to break out in tears. His competitive winning attitude has helped the 49ers recover after a 4-12 year.
Gore was elevated to the top of the San Francisco 49ers' depth chart following the August 19, 2006 trade that shipped incumbent starter Kevan Barlow to the New York Jets in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.
Gore had benefited that season from the tutelage of then-offensive coordinator Norv Turner, whose offensive scheme places a heavy emphasis on running the football.
Frank Gore finished the 2006 season with 1,695 rushing yards from scrimmage, averaging just over 5.4 yards per attempt, with eight rushing TDs. In Week 10, Gore ran for a 61 yard touchdown against the Detroit Lions which lead to his career high 159 yard game, including a club record 148 yards in the first half. On Sunday, November 19, 2006, he set a San Francisco 49ers record for rushing yards in a game with 212 yards against the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. Up next was St. Louis, in which Gore kept things rolling with a 134 yard performance against their NFC West rivals. The next Sunday found Gore and the 49ers at New Orleans, in which Gore was held to just 40 rushing yards, only to rebound 7 days later at home with a 130 yard performance in a losing effort against the Green Bay Packers. Frank Gore temporarily obtained the NFL rushing lead on December 14, 2006 by rushing for 144 yards against the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field in Seattle, WA.
Though Gore had fumbling problems at the beginning of the season, losing the ball once in each of the first four games, he improved his carrying and only fumbled three more times in the next twelve games.
In the 2006 season, Gore led the NFC in rushing yards, making him the first player in 49ers history to do so. He also set a franchise record for yards rushed in a season with 1,695 yards, topping former record-holder Garrison Hearst.
On Tuesday, December 19, 2006, Frank Gore was selected as the starting running back to represent the National Football Conference (NFC) in the 2007 Pro Bowl, to take place at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is his first Pro Bowl appearance.
Gore signed a contract extension through 2011 estimated to be worth $28 million over four years on March 28, 2007.
