Frederick Christian, Elector of Saxony

Frederick Christian, Elector of Saxony (September 5, 1722 – December 17, 1763) was a member of the house of Wettin. His father was Frederick Augustus, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
In 1747, he married Maria Antonia Princess of Bavaria (1724-1780). She was a daughter of Charles VII, Holy Roman Emperor and Marie Amalie, Archduchess of Austria. Seven children were born from this marriage:
- Frederick Augustus I (1750-1827), elector of Saxony and Duke of Warsaw
- Karl (1752-1781).
- Joseph (1754-1763).
- Anton Clemens (1755-1836).
- Maria Amalia (1757-1831). Married Karl III Duke von Zweibrücken.
- Maximilian (1759-1838)
- Maria (1761-1820).
Frederick Christian of Saxony succeeded his father in October 1763 as Elector of Saxony, but died in December 1763. Two of his children were kings of Saxony, his son Frederick Augustus I of Saxony succeeded him.
