Bessie Rischbieth (1874 – 1967) was born Bessie Mabel Earle. She is regarded as an important and early Australian feminist and social activist. As President and founding member of the Australian Federation of Women's Societies and editor of the magazine The Dawn she sought to improve the rights of women and children, primarily in Australia.[1]

Rischbieth's civic service and activism were during the formative years of the Australian Federation. She also made contributions to the arts, politics and literature of Western Australia.
