Gaelic medium unit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In primary education in Scotland, a Gaelic medium unit (GMU) is a stream within the school in which the Gaelic language is used as a medium of instruction.
As there are still relatively few Gaelic medium schools, Gaelic minorities are frequently served by special units within English-speaking schools. It is not only Gaelic-speaking families who choose to send their children to these units, but also mono-lingual (ie. English-speaking) parents who would like their children to grow up bilingually.
