Talk:Gallery of mountains
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The purpose of this is to give a visual overview of the various mountains of the world, sort of what an image category might do, but more organized. I've started off with table rows by alphabet, just for entry purposes. This may get overly large though - I haven't even found all the images yet. Ideas would be to split by continent or even mountain range, with this as a visual index to the subgalleries. Ideas welcome. Stan 16:18, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- This would be a fantastic page over at Commons. Is there some magic transwiki bot to move images over there? -- hike395 07:31, August 13, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Transition to Commons
I am in the process of transitioning this page and images to Commons. A number of images are not yet on Commons so I first need to get them there. Once that is all done, I will make the page official (it's currently a subpage of mine) and then update this page to point to it. Please do NOT add additional images to this page as they could get missed when the page is cleared of current images. Thanks. RedWolf 06:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
I have put the page up on Commons at Gallery of mountains. A number of images still need to be copied to Commons (make sure they are license compatible with Commons). Assistance in completing the task would be appreciated. RedWolf 22:45, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, you are moving it to Commons. Then I don't have to change the refences if they are only used on this page? I'll just delete them strait away -- is that OK? / Fred-Chess 22:08, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
The transition has been completed. Some images were not moved to Commons due to possible licensing concerns. I have also changed all links to this page to refer to the Commons page. Fred, there shouldn't be anything you need to do now that the transition is done. RedWolf 23:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
