[edit] Ebenhardt
Regarding this idea - it sounds potentially interesting - however, there are plenty of little claims such as that (e.g. the Dukes of Aquitaine may have been legitimate Merovingian descendants, making them - and thus their heirs - probably the Wittelsbach Jacobites - rightful claimants to the throne of France). They can't all be listed - we can only list those which, in the event of a Monarchical Restoration in France, would be taken seriously by the deciding powers due to their previous positions. The Bourbons, the Orleans and the Bonapartes have all ruled relatively recently, and have strong claims to either the Kingdom or Empire of France. The Merovingians ruled over 1000 years ago - so far that it is unlikely that any true claimant, even if he could prove it, would be regarded as anything other than a novelty (for that matter, are the Ebenhardts direct descendants? France uses Salic law, after all). Michaelsanders 09:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
