Zoids Genesis (ゾイドジェネシス?) is the fifth anime installment of the Zoids franchise. It tells the story of Ruuji Famiron, a young boy who finds a Liger-type Zoid during a salvage mission. Initially the village is attacked by Bio-Raptor Bio-Zoids and later a Bio-Megaraptor. After the village generator is destroyed in combat, Ruuji takes the Murasame Liger Zoid and leaves the village alongside Ra-Kan and Rei Mii to find a generator mechanic or the village will be destroyed. Through his journey Ruuji learns he must fight against Digald. It aired on TV Tokyo from April 2005 to March 2006. In July 2006, the series was recently announced to appear as a part of Toonami Jetstream, an online internet streaming project featuring current Toonami shows and all-new titles. As of February 2007, the show is yet to air via Jetstream.

Mirodo Village and its Generator.
Mirodo Village and its Generator.

Much like Zoids: Fuzors, Genesis still takes place on Planet Zi, but also seems to share no connection to the previous series. But the show takes a more post-apocalyptic setting, following a cataclysmic environmental/geological event known as the "The God's Fury" that has destroyed much of the civilizations on Zi and devastated the planet. Many of Zi's survivors have created new civilizations with the use of giant structures called "Generators" that are scattered around the planet. However, out of the ashes of the "The God's Fury", the technology of the Zoids still existed and are constantly excavated for the use of humanity. The show returns to the more adventurous and war-themed styles reminiscent of Zoids: Chaotic Century. It focuses on a boy named Ruuji who lives in a small seaside village called Miroodo and eventually becomes the pilot of the Murasame Liger after excavating it from the ocean.

[edit] Plot

Generations ago on planet Zi at the height of human development, Zoids were used in an epic battle that eventually lead to the destruction of the world. So devastated was the world that the planet was barely inhabitable for humanity and nature. The catastrophe was named "The God's Fury" and was considered a supernatural event by locals that believed the world was punished because of humanity's foolishness.

Using one of their most powerful and largest Zoids, the surviving people of this conflict rode on Gildragons for safety and shelter. While one group returned to the earth and founded Iron Rock City, one group built a floating city in the sky called Sora Sky City. The people there rebuilt their society and eventually began researching ways to restore the planet. After many years of research they planned to use their bio-mechanical technology to restore the world in order to re-inhabit the land their ancestors almost destroyed; as they lived in their city they became hubris and no longer desired to return.

The technology they researched on was implemented on the planet which gave birth to what the surviving locals refer as generators. It has unique capabilities to maintain energy and growth for machinery and life in the surrounding area. Eventually Sora Sky City would encounter energy depletion and scouted planet Zi with their own agents. As other agents monitored the growth and progress of the humans that survived "The God's Fury" event, others approached people to make deals. The council of Sora Sky City picked a city called Digu and traded off advanced technology for reggel (universal energy resource, like oil). Their arrangement not only involved treaties, but also sending a Sora Sky citizen to be adopted as part of the agreement. The King of Digu would accept Jiin as his son and since then Digu researched and developed their own technologies to form their own army, Digald. Eventually Digald would mass produce their own Zoids with the aid of technology provided by Iron Rock.

The Bio Zoids were massed produced in rapid numbers and eventually started conquering neighboring villages, towns, and cities which had generators to help produce more energy for Digald's energy consumption. They used special stones that could detect a humans ability to pilot a Bio Zoid and drafted them into Digald forces, never able to see their friends and family. Though known and feared throughout the continent, people can't do much to defend themselves as their Zoids are no match to the Bio Zoids and they can't survive without having a generator. People either surrendered or were destroyed.

The story of Zoids Genesis actually begins here as Ra-Kan roams the world with Mii after his kingdom was fallen to Digald. Though his kingdom was fallen, Zuuri was rebuilt in a new secret location far from Digald's influence. Young Ruuji Familon is working with his father to help recover Zoids from the bottom of the ocean in their village Miroodo. While Mii and Ra-Kan was within the local area, so was Major Zairin. Zairin would discover Miroodo having a small generator for Digald. His troops arrived early and attacked Miroodo. Ruuji could never activate a Zoid, but the situation was dire and he jumped into Mursasame Liger. This Zoid answered to Ruuji's call and activated to aid him against the Bio Raptors attacking his village.

Ra-Kan and Mii joined Ruuji in their fight against Digald. Eventually a battle between Zairin and Ruuji lead to the accidental damage to Miroodo's generator. With the generator damaged, this lead to the fear of Miroodo's destruction. Ra-Kan agreed to aid Ruuji in finding a generator. This quest for finding a generator would lead Ruuji to befriend Kotona, Garaga, then Ron. Through their adventures, Ruuji was unable to find a person capable repairing the generator. His journey made him realize even if the generator could be fixed, Digald's expansion will eventually rule everything including Miroodo. Ruuji suggested to Ra-Kan to fight against Digald and eventually Ra-Kan agreed that Digald's expansion can't continue. With the resources and forces of Zuuri, Ra-Kan began organizing and offense. They invited many resistance groups to their cause and only a few had interest in joining them.

With the eventual successes of the Digald Suppression Army, their reputation had the attention of many and eventually their forces grew in numbers. Between this them Jiin's power and influence grew. After the death of the King of Digu, Jiin called himself as Emperor and eventually a God to Digald. His new policies not only are more unforgiving, but it alienated many of the officers under Jiin. However, it's not a big issue to Jiin since he's able to extract human souls into the bodies of Bio Zoid pilot droids. His army was able to triple without the need for real people. Jiin eventually betrayed his own people and launched Bio Guis for an aerial assault against Sora Sky City. With the Sora Sky City destroyed, there was no real power left to oppose him except for the suppression army he considered as a nuisances.

After the discovery of Digald droid pilots being extracted human souls, many defected to the Digald Suppression Army. Ruuji felt their anti-Digald army title no longer fitted and renamed themselves as the Jiin Suppression Army. A final and large battle was waged against Jiin in his Bio Tyranno. After a very difficult fight, Ruuji eventually destroyed Jiin with Mugen Liger and ended the conflict to restored peace to the lands.

[edit] Ruuji Familon

Ruuji Familon.
Ruuji Familon.

An inhabitant of the seaside Mirodo village, who recently excavated the Murasame Liger when a group of Bio Raptor zoids attacked. In a fight between Zairin and Ruuji, Zairin damaged the generator (a tree-like structure that maintains the environment around the village). With Ra-Kan and Mii, he sets of to find a mechanic who can repair the generator. He has a younger brother, and was given a telescope by his father for his journey.

During his quest to find a generator mechanic Ruuji becomes embroiled in a struggle against the expansionist nation of Digald. He realizes repairing his village generator won't mean anything without peace and he suggests to Ra-Kan an organized stand against Digald.

Having lived in the village his entire life, he is somewhat naïve, but also determined and possessing a strong sense of justice. His unwillingness to allow those he encounters to suffer often puts him in over his head, as well as his traveling companions. Ruuji at one point tried to free people from Digald forces, but that action almost led to the destruction of his team when Georg launced a surprise attack. However, his mistakes gave him better understanding of approaching things and allowed him to become a wiser person and competent zoid pilot. He's constantly under training from Seijurou to help him become stronger.

Ruuji would eventually became the star hope against Digald. As a skillful pilot, he and Murasame Liger's reputation grew into a continental sensation as a liberator and savior. While various people within the suppression army doubted him, he won over their confidence in battle and showing his tactical ingenuity. He would eventually lead his own division and temporarily became leader of the Ra-Kan's army. The leading group members all knew Ruuji and his competence and didn't object to his young leadership. He also won the confidence of the people of Sora Sky City. The colors of his Zoid scheme became official flag in the army as well. Eventually Ruuji and most of Digald forces became partners in fighting against Jiin and renamed themselves as Jiin Suppression Army. Ruuji gave the finishing blow that destroyed BioTyranno and Jiin. After winning the war he returned home. There was no epilogue to tell what happened since he and Mii have feelings for each other. The ending only shows Ruuji returning home with the solution to restore Miroodo's generator. It can be assumed he's now a typical man in his village as a teacher.

He pilots the Murasame Liger, Hayate Liger, and Mugen Liger. His Japanese VA is Hiromi Hirata.

[edit] Ra-Kan

Ra-Kan.
Ra-Kan.

A leader of a nation conquered by Digald known as Zuuri, he is well known to Digald forces, and is hunted by them wherever he travels. Nonetheless he is patient with those he encounters and agrees to help Ruuji after his village his attacked and its generator damaged. When Digald surrounded his castle, he surrendered because he was concerned for loss of life during combat; but he regrets this decision, as he believed it allowed Digald to spread.

After a life decision, Ra-Kan decided to restart the war against Digald by creating amassing and organizing a Digald Suppression Army. Zuuri was rebuilt in a new location and since prospered peacefully. With Diglad spreading their forces, he created a base from there. He dispatched the group around the continent in hopes to gather larger forces. After many difficult trials in getting the army organized, the army eventually succeeded in fighting against Digald. Eventually though their group realized it was Jiin they were really after and even joined forces with defected Digald troops. While fighting Georg, Jiin fired his gravity particle cannon and was presumed KIA; Georg's shields on BioTricera actually protected him and he returned in the climatic battle to face Jiin. There was no epilogue to explain what happened after Jiin's defeat, but it can be assumed that he and Mii returned to their kingdom to start rebuilding.

He pilots the Sword Wolf and later on, the Sword Wolf Crusher. His Japanese VA is Takashi Matsuyama.

[edit] Re Mii

Re Mii.
Re Mii.

A pragmatic, energetic, and occasionally cynical traveling companion of Ra-Kan. She is the daughter of Ra Kan's younger sister, making her his niece, and shows a great deal of respect for him, often calling him as Oji-sama. She's a princess of Ra-Kan's fallen nation and she has a crush on Ruuji. She displayed her attraction by blushing from time-to-time and was jealous when she thought Ruuji was engaged to Kotona. She usually criticizes Ruuji for his impulsive behavior as well as his inexperience in piloting Zoids. Despite her size she is a capable combatant, able to pin down Ruuji with little effort. Ruuji and Garaga complain much about her inability to do any cooking besides BBQ. She would eventually become good friends with Souta and named him Gin. During her time in the suppression army, she was in charge of supply guard detail and lead her own LanceStag battalion.

She pilots the Lancestag and later on in the series, the Lancestag Break. Her Japanese VA is Kimiko Koyama. Her Zoid was destroyed while saving Ruuji from Jiin's BioTyranno.

[edit] Kotona Elegance

Kotona and her bird Kurruku.
Kotona and her bird Kurruku.

A charming and optimistic mercenary who travels with a white bird (of unknown spieces) named Kurruku. Kotona's real name has yet to be revealed, she's only using an alias. Although preferring to use her beauty and diplomatic nature to avoid conflict. She joins Ruuji in his quest for a generator mechanic as a way to repay him for his help in defeating a group of Zoid thieves. Later on, Ruuji was ask her to aid him in a campaign against Digald.

It is revealed that her hometown, Iron Rock, contains a facility that can create the silver armor which Digald uses and that a secret guild kills outsiders who discover its secret. Kotona left because she was to be the next leader, but to do so, her twin sister would have been killed. When she left, her sister took her position and had to kill her. Kotona suffered a wound, but her body was rescued by RainbowJerk and since lead a freelance life. Even though free of Iron Rock's will, she still kept her identity and past a secret.

She was brought up to be a skilled assassin and has many weapons hidden on her body. It was later revealed that her people are actually part of a surviving group that avoided the "The God's Fury" event and rebuilt their society at Iron Rock. Throughout the years her people began to forget their origins, but a small group of them has kept the secret for generations as custodians to the city and to their sleeping Gil Dragon. She knows various ancient phrases passed down by her mother and that her real name is actually the Gil Dragon's activation codes. No one can know her true name unless it's her husband.

Ruuji had to try to ask her real name anyway for the sake of obtaining Gil Dragon. Kotona revealed her secret without Ruuji marrying her, but still joked about seriously getting married. She found it ironic that her early painful memories would pay off in aiding the war. Kotona and Souta would eventually help pilot Gil Dragon to fly to Sora Sky City to recover the Leeo ammunition to contribute winning the war against Jiin.

She pilots the Zoid Rainbow Jerk. Her Japanese VA is Shizuka Itoh.

[edit] Raimei no Garaga

Garaga.
Garaga.

Nicknamed 'Thunder Garaga', a boisterous and hot-tempered guerrilla leader whose home town was occupied by Digald. He and Kotona have a certain degree of history between them upon first meeting Ruuji. Garaga always desired Kotona; she wanted a nice way to brush him off and had Ruuji faked being her betrothed. Garaga challenges him to a Zoid battle to prove his worth, but eventually the misunderstanding was cleared. He invited Ruuji, Ra-Kan, Mii, and Kotona to join his resistance group in the mountains. Garaga's resistance group eventually was lead to a trap and the bulk of his group wad destroyed.

After his mountain hideout is destroyed by Major Zairin, he joins Ruuji to strike back against Digald. He often comes off simple-minded, but he is the strongest of the group. He often provides comic relief, especially when played against Mii's bossiness. He also acts like an older brother to Ruuji at times. With the success of the suppression army, Garaga would rise amongst the ranks and leads one of the divisions of the army.

He pilots the Zoid Deadly Kong. The Deadly Kong is a zoid to be feared when in berserker mode. Whenever Garaga's anger reaches to a high point, Deadly Kong removes his wrapped arm to reveal a deadly arm weapon and destroys anything in its path.

His Japanese VA is Kenta Miyake.

[edit] Ron Mangan

Ron Mangan.
Ron Mangan.

A doctor and member of Garaga's guerilla band, he is also a skilled tactician. He provides a thoughtful and calm approach in contrast with Garaga's use of brute force, and sees great potential in Ryuuji. Because of his many travels, he's a well educated man on the road and also know a few things about zoid characteristics. He theorized Ruuji's Murasame Liger became Hayate Liger through an event called Evolt. As their journey progresses Ron shows both Ruuji and Mii the mysteries of the planet while traveling as merchants to avoid detection. It is revealed that Ron knows people that contain relics of the Zi's past from the time before the great disaster. He helps Ruuji by having relations with various people to increase their chances of winning against Digald. In a surprise attack by Major Zairin's Volcano, Ron distracts Volcano long enough to self destruct, stopping Volcano from going after Ruuji and Mii. Ron survives by abandoning his zoid at the last moment to ride in the Murasame Liger. To the surprise of everyone Ron appeared with a replacement Bamburian saying he had an extra one transported to him by his merchant friends.

Ron would eventually reveal himself as an agent of Sora Sky City. While other members of Sora's council didn't feel Digald would pose as a problem, Ron actively investigated Digald's activities. He suspected Jiin's lust for power would eventually be a problem and actively gave Ruuji's group a tactical advantage when it counted the most. At the height of the war he supplied the suppression army with Leeo alloy (or metal Zi) ammunition that contributed the victory of the war against Jiin.

He pilots the Zoid Bamburian. His Japanese VA is Kishou Taniyama.

[edit] Seijuurou

Seijuurou.
Seijuurou.

The last member to join Ruuji and his group, he is a reclusive swordsman who saves Ryuuji from a group of wild Elephander Zoids. Although originally a warrior who sought fame and glory in Zoid battle arenas, he retired when he accidentally killed his pupil in a Zoids tournament. Prior to his early retirement, he was regarded as the strongest Zoids pilot alive because he won that same tournament 10 years in a row. Quiet and aloof, he is the most skilled combatant of Ruuji's group, and reluctantly agrees to give him training on their journey. He's suspected of having a serious health matter as he sometimes suffer from breathing and adominal pains. Kotona is the only one that notices his suffering as he doesn't like to discuss about his private health matters.

Later it was discovered that he was suffering from a disease that was killing him. There was no cure for his condition because there was no medical advances in his un-named disease. It wasn't until he was badly injured and healed by the Sora Sky people that they cured him of his ailment. He's now healthy, but never once showing real enthusiasm for his new lease in life.

He pilots the Zoid Soul Tiger. His Japanese VA is Kenjirou Tsuda.

[edit] Digald

[edit] Major General Zairin

Zairin.
Zairin.

The first member of the militaristic nation of Digald to be encountered by Ruuji. He unintentionally damages the generator at Ruuji's village and becomes an on/off antagonist for them. Apparently suave and charming, he can also be ruthless in combat. Nonetheless, he prefers to conquer territories and cities rather than demolish them, in contrast to other Digald commanders such as Georg.

He was inducted into Diglad when its forces attacked his village, in episode 24 he witnesses the pollution that Digald's industry has spread, and the suffering of former villagers. For most of the story Zairin was portrayed as a obsessed man looking for a challenge as a Zoid pilot and longs to face Ruuji in a fight to prove his worth. Eventually Zairin would realize the truth behind droid Digald pilots and defected to join Ra-Kan's group. Ruuji and Zairin made peace with each other and cooperated in their campaign against Jiin. After the defeat of Jiin, there was no epilogue to find out the fate of the characters so it's only an educated guess by fans that Zairin probably went back to restore his village.

He pilots a MegaRaptor, a larger version of the Digald Bio-Raptor, with claws that can block metal Zi weapons. After he was defeated by Ruuji in Hayate Liger Zairin was rescued and was given Bio-Volcano.

His Japanese VA is Yasunori Matsumoto.

[edit] General Jiin

Jiin.
Jiin.

The adopted son of Digald's leader and the main sponsor of Major Zairin. He took appreciation for Zairin's capabilities and considers him one of his most trusted subordinates. Though his father controls the country, he hasn't been able to lead for a very long time with his declining health. Jiin was entrusted to handle most of his duties and the unofficial ruler of Digald. Eventually Jiin would go to new heights as he secretly, and aggressively created a new generation of Bio-Zoids. He eventually broke all ties with the Sora Sky People and waged war upon the land and sky.

Jiin is revealed to be a citizen of the sky and he intends to destroy his former home to become undisputed across the planet. So ambitious his lust for power, he contributed stress that eventually killed his step-father and he declared himself as Emperor and later as God of Zi. Jiin would later stop caring conquering villages or towns, use his Bio-Tyranno to destroy them completely to show his "god-like" power. During the final showdown between his forces and the Jiin Suppression Army he displayed very advanced skills in piloting. Whether was it was his skill or the capabilities of his Zoid that gave him the ability was never answered. Jiin was killed along with his Zoid when Mugen Liger cut down Bio-Tyranno.

[edit] Colonel Felme

Felme.
Felme.

A blue-haired Digald pilot, she first speaks in episode 23. She's often seen in compromising situations, but she doesn't care if someone is watching her bathing or barely covered. She's often teamed up with Souta as a team to help defeat the Digald Suppression Army, but she only considers her partner as a tool. She's actually from Sora city, sent to watch Digald, but turns against her former home out of sheer boredom. Towards near the end of the war she switched sides and helped save Zairin from certain death while facing Jiin. She later would fly in to save Souta and be killed by Jiin in the Bio Tyranno by throwing a Lancestag's weapon and destroying her and BioPtera.

She pilots Bio-Ptera, a flying Digald Zoid.

[edit] Zoids

Despite the disaster a thousand years ago, Zoids are still in use by the nations and cities of planet Zi. The main difference between other series is the use of a substance called Regel. Originating from a series of tree-like generators that help to maintain the planet's ecosystem, it is an orange, sap-like fluid which Zoids depend on. It is possible that Zoids use it for maintenance functions, like lubricant oil, rather than as an energy source, due to the sheer size and the intake size needed; it may also be used in this way to prevent Zoids from spreading too far from human control.

Note: This section only includes Zoids that do not possess their own article at this time. For information on these Zoids, see each Zoid's respective article.

[edit] Protagonist Zoids

The seven Zoids used by the protagonists are all armed with a metal Zi weapon, capable of disintegrating Digald armor. Because of their inferior numbers, they are occasionally overwhelmed by greater forces.

[edit] Murasame Liger

Main article: Murasame Liger

A liger-type Zoid piloted by Ruuji.

[edit] Sword Wolf

Main article: Whitz Wolf

Ra Kan's wolf-type Zoid

[edit] LanceStag

LanceStag

LanceStag
GZ-012
Elk Type
Digald Suppression Army/Jiin Suppression Army
Crew 1
Weight 78 tons
Depth 19 m
Height 12.9 m
Maximum Speed 290 km/h
Weapons Thruster Lance, Breaker Horn x2, Rolling Spike Shield, Smart Guard x2, Small size Shock Canon x4, Gravity Wheel, Twinkle Breaker
Equipment

An Elk-type Zoid with a Metal Zi lance large antlers which can crush Zoids caught in its grasp. It also has a spiked shield over its left shoulder that can extend outwards to block attacks. Fast and mobile, it can also use its lance as a pole-vault stick to leap over walls.

The LanceStag Break was the upgraded form of Mii's LanceStag. Its front antlers were replaced with tougher and larger versions. Though these antlers have unknown offensive capabilities, they could take a blow from the Bio-Volcano and survive intact.

It seems this Zoid is not unique as numerous LanceStag have been shown in the show. LanceStags were present in Kida-Han's army while Zuuri managed to salvage numerous LanceStag. Zuuri's LanceStag are all under the command of Ra Kan.

Piloted by Mii. Souta, the ex-pilot of the BioKentro, will later pilot a LanceStag with the yellow parts replaced by silvery green and the lance substituted by one of the beast slayer blades of BioKentro.

[edit] Rainbow Jerk

Rainbow Jerk

Rainbow Jerk
GZ-011
Peacock Type
Digald Suppression Army/Jiin Suppression Army
Crew 1
Weight 45 tons
Depth 20.9 m
Height 12.6 m
Maximum Speed Mach 2.5
Weapons Feather Cutter x2, Rainbow Beam Tail x6, Rolling Spike Shield, Smart Guard x2, Pinpoint Laser x2, Golden Beak, Aero Crown, Iron Footnail x2, Crystal Panel x2, Wind Dancers
Equipment

The only protagonist Zoid that can fly, it resembles a hybrid of peacock and crane. Due to a lack of apparent engines and its sheer size, it is likely that is uses some form of resonance-levitation to fly. Its ornate wing feathers are metal Zi, which can slice through Digald Zoids in flight. Its long range weapon can only be activated when standing, in which its tail plates unfold sideways like a fan and generate an intense ultrasonic pulse that disorients opponents, although those underground are unaffected, such as Molgas or Viper-types, as are Bio-Zoids.

Rainbow Jerk distinguishes iself as an excellent scout or fast transport Zoid. For much of the first half of the series Digald has no effective counter to it save using Bio-Raptors as anti-aircraft units. After the Bio-Ptera and Bio-Raptor Gui enters service, Rainbow Jerk will have a harder time in aerial combat. Rainbow Jerk was upgraded with the Wind Dancers midway through the show, allowing it to temporarily boost its speed and outrun pursuing opponents.

Piloted by Kotona.

[edit] Deadly Kong

Deadly Kong

Deadly Kong
GZ-014
Gorilla Type
Digald Suppression Army/Jiin Suppression Army
Crew 1
Weight 187 tons
Depth 14.5 m
Height 15 m
Maximum Speed 150 km/h
Weapons Hellbox, Hellmask, Pile Bunker, Head Vulcan x2, Shoulder Shock Canon x2, Fuuin no Hidarite (Seal of Left Hand) - Scissors Arm
Equipment

A large Gorilla-like Zoid that uses its sheer power to defeat others. In a flattened backpack known as a Hellbox are a pair of spindly metal Zi claw-tipped arms, usually concealed from view, although a tracking eye on its back allows it greater range. The Deadly Kong is also able to wield a Metal Zi-tipped scythe. Its left forearm is usually covered by a set of large bandages, but when in times of extreme stress, a set of radial gripping claws are revealed from beneath it. When this occurs, Deadly Kong attacks any Zoid around it until either its Regel is exhausted or there are no more Zoids. An exception to this comes when Ruuji stands in its path to prevent it from demolishing fleeing Digald transport Zoids.

Piloted by Garaga.

[edit] Bamburian

Bamburian

Bamburian
GZ-013
Panda Type
Digald Suppression Army/Jiin Suppression Army
Crew 1
Weight 45.6 tons
Depth 11.9 m
Height (On 4 legs) 8.3 m/ (On 2 legs) 10.5 m
Maximum Speed 140 km/h
Weapons Anti-Air Laser Gun x2, Bamboo Launcher (Bamboo Missiles x11), Seiryuu Sabre x2, Giant Claw x4,Giant Wheel x2, Smoke Discharge x2, Groundstar
Equipment

A compact Zoid resembling a panda. Armed with a set of curved blades on either shoulder, it has excellent turning capabilities. It also carries a set of multi-purpose rockets resembling bamboo shoots on its back. These can be fired to create a smokescreen, or a set of projectiles that release glowing crystal-like shards that impale attacking Zoids.

The upgraded Bamburian also has a pair of lances able to extend outwards similar to the Bio-Tricera's, though the capabilities of the other upgrades are still unknown. Ron's first Bamburian was used to distract Volcano in an altercation and the self destruct sequence was activated to give Ruuji and Mii enough time to run. The zoid was destroyed in combat, but not the pilot, and Ron recovered his "spare" Bamburian afterwards.

Piloted by Ron.

[edit] Soul Tiger

Main article: Rayse Tiger

A zoid that resembles the Rayse Tiger, except that its white and the "energy lines" are red not green. It has four large claws on each paw and is very fast.

Piloted by Seijuurou.

[edit] Digald Zoids

The militaristic nation of Digald has been steadily expanding across planet Zi, meeting little opposition. Occupied cities have their populations used for forced labor or as Zoid pilots. The key to their success has been in a silver-plating over their Zoids, which is immune to beam-weaponry. However, it is extremely vulnerable to high temperatures, or the effect of weapons made from a substance called metal Zi. Upon contact with either of these, the silver-coating melts and evaporates, and the internal crimson structure disintegrates, leaving only beached white skeletons. Zoids piloted by higher-ranking officers have gold claws or spikes that can block metal Zi weapons, though these are rare. The pilots, unlike most Zoids, remain suspended in a dark cockpit, and wear bulky suits with connecting wires to control their Zoids. Most are controlled using humanoid drones with rotary, three-eyed helmets, later revealed to be the drained consciousness of occupied peoples encased in robotic forms. Later model commander-type Biozoids such as the Bio-Volcano and presumably the BioKentro have armor made of crystal that are completely resistant to Metal Zi weapons.

[edit] Bio-Raptor

The standard soldier for Digald forces (after Velociraptor), in addition to its teeth and clawed hands and feet, each has a plasma/flame weapon in its mouth that can either send a fiery blast as a blowtorch would, or a concentrated burst of plasma for greater distance. Its mouth, however, is extremely vulnerable, even to projectiles.

[edit] Bio-Raptor Gui

A BioRaptor modified for flight, with the forelimbs modified into wings. They became the new fear in the skies as they have been modified to be heavy bombers. With only a few Zoids that could fly, the Gui was almost unopposed in the skies. Its fighting capabilities are unimpressive with limited fire power and maneuverability, but they make it up by large numbers firing or dropping waves of explosive projectiles.

[edit] Bio-MegaRaptor

A similar model to the BioRaptor, approximately 2 or 3 times larger, armed with a set of golden, metal Zi-resistant claws.

The original BioMegaRaptor could only be piloted by Zairin, but after his defeat the combat data gained from his unit was used to mass-produce the BioMegaRaptor. These mass-produced versions are virtually identical save that they can be piloted by other Digald Zoid pilots and have purple instead of golden claws. After the first Bio-Megaraptor was destroyed in battle, Zairin was upgraded to testing Bio-Volcano.

Piloted by Major Zairin.

[edit] Bio-Tricera

A powerful quadruped Zoid (after a Triceratops). In addition to its plasma gun in its mouth, and thick tail and jaws, its horns can also extend as segments connected by wires, becoming twin tendrils that can impale and strike distant targets, even those underground. Bio-Tricera was defeated by Hayate Liger, killing Georg in the process.

Piloted by Georg.

[edit] Bio-Ptera

A Digald Zoid (after a pterodactyl) capable of flight, it resembles a Pteranodon. Armed with a mouth-enclosed plasma gun and a set of cannons on its wings, it first engages the RainbowJerk in episode 21.

Piloted by Felme.

[edit] Bio-Kentro

A quadruped Zoid (after a Kentrosaurus) with a double row of spikes running down its back, a scythed tail called a Backlance and movable twin blades known as Beast Slayers at its shoulders, first seen in episode 24 against three fox-type Zoids. Its specialty is melee combat, and combined with its prodigy pilot, it's the Digald counterpart to the Hayate Liger. The BioKentro seems to be much slower compared to the Murasame Liger

Piloted by Souta.

[edit] Bio-Tyranno

Main article: Bio Tyranno

A large Zoid (after a T-Rex) seen in the revised intro in episode 24.

[edit] Bio-Volcano

A modified BioMegaraptor, seen in episode 27. After being defeated by Ruuji, Major Zairin receives this Zoid which has spines, a charged particle beam cannon array, and armor resistant to Metal Zi. It also has a will of its own when the pilot can't control its body. The Zoid was built to be partially powered by a life-draining component inside the Zoid which was straining Zairin painfully at times. Operating the machine at prolonged hours can lead to death.

[edit] Notes

  • There is some controversy over whether the series does actually take place on Zi; both the "Generators" and the Zoid fuel "Reggel" (a red, viscous liquid that occurs naturally) have never appeared in any previous Zoids material. Additionally, a map on the back of the limited Lancestag model depicts a continent that does not match at all to any of Zi's four continents. Since there was a wide-scale planetary catastrophe, the continents may have taken new forms.
