Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto Story (2005) is an opera film. It was written by Francesco Maria Piave with the music of Giuseppe Verdi, directed by Gianfranco Fozzi and produced by Guido Pietroni and Maurizio De Santis.
Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece Rigoletto is brought to life in this production of the opera, performed in Siena, Italy, by Roberto Servile , Inva Mula , Marcelo Alvarez and the Toscanini Foundation Orchestra, conducted by Keri Lynn Wilson and featuring costumes by Vivienne Westwood.
In the 1550s, Mantua, the Duke, a celebrated ladies man, seduces Gilda, the beautiful daughter of his sharp-tongued jester, Rigoletto. Vowing revenge, her furious father hires Sparafucile, a notorious assassin, to avenge his family’s honor - a decision that ends in tragedy.
