[edit] History
GPRename is one more example proving that the open source concept in collaboration with the SourceForge website works extremely well.
The program was initially created by Tristesse. Another user, Zurd, liked it very much but found and reported a bug he hoped would be fixed. After ten months without response from the author, Zurd found the problem himself, fixed it and offered a patch, but again there was no response, and users could not benefit from the patch since it was not part of the official release. Finally Zurd requested and was granted developer status from SourceForge for the GPRename project. Thus the project was brought back to life, and no lines of code were lost.
The fact that other users have submitted new ideas and translations of the revived GPRename is, again, more proof that open source is a perfect solution for collaborative work. A big thank you to everyone who helped make GPRename what it is today!
Still very much alive in 2007, GPRename has been ported from the deprecated GTK-Perl to the new GTK2-Perl.
