Grizedale College is a college of Lancaster University, in Lancashire, United Kingdom. Although it was originally considered to be located in the south part of the campus, the development of the south west campus has resulted in the college now being considered as more centrally located. Grizedale College houses a bar, junior and senior common rooms, a coffee shop, a laundrette and accommodation. The college was famous on campus for its small rooms, some of the smallest on campus. However, a major redevelopment project started in summer 2006 will see the old accommodation blocks being demolished to make way for more modern (and more spacious) accommodation. During the redevelopment, students from Grizedale have temporary accommodation in Pendle and the George Fox building.
In November 2006 it was announced that Grizedale won't see their new blocks finished in time for the 2007/8 academic year and that the college will remain fragmented until at least 2008/9.
Grizedale has a reputation as being a sociable college, attracting students from other colleges in the evening for events in Grizedale Bar, such as the "Shite Disco". The final song played at the Shite Disco is the official college song "Never Forget" by Take That.
Like the names of other colleges in Lancaster University, Grizedale comes from a feature in the local area. In this case the college takes its name from Grizedale Forest in the Lake District.
