From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to sagas Gudrid Eiriksdottir was one of the Vikings who settled (temporarily) in Vinland. She was said to be the wife of Þorfinnur Karlsefni and the mother of Snorri Þorfinnsson, who was possibly the first child of European descent to be born in North America.
She was also known as Gudrid of Iceland. Her tale is told in the 2000 novel The Sea Road by Scottish writer Margaret Elphinstone.
