Harold Priestley "Hal" Gill III[1] (b. April 6, 1975, Concord, Massachusetts) is a professional ice hockey defenceman who plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League.
After being drafted in the 8th round, 207th overall at the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins, Gill spent 4 years playing college hockey for Providence College before entering the NHL in the 1997-98 NHL season where he played over 600 regular season games for the Bruins.
On March 16, 2007, he sustained a puck in the face against the Washington Capitals, and had to leave the game. It is not known whether he has been cut or has sustained a broken orbital bone.
Gill was one of many NHL players who played in Europe during the cancelled 2004-05 NHL season, playing in Finland for Lukko.
Before college, Gill played football at Nashoba Regional High School, where he served as quarterback ([1]).
On July 1, 2006, Gill signed a 3-year deal as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
