Hassanamisco Nipmuck

The Hassanamisco Nipmuck, from whom the Hassanamisco Reservation in Grafton, Massachusetts takes its name, are a home to a group of Nipmuck Indians native to Worcester County, Massachusetts. "Indian Fairs" have been held annually at Hassanamisco Reservation location since 1924.[1]
The Hassanamisco Nipmuck, also known in past centuries as the Hassanamesit Nipmuck or more recently as the Grafton Nipmuck, are along with the Webster/Dudley Band of Chaubunagungamaug Nipmuck, part of the group that identifies as the Nipmuck Nation.[2]
While the Nipmuck are recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in 2004 the Bureau of Indian Affairs decided that this group does not meet four of the seven mandatory requirements for Federal acknowledgment as a "nation". [3]
