The novel follows a young girl named Paski who moves from New Mexico to Aliso Viejo, California. There, she attends Aliso Niguel High School and faces off with the popular cliques there.

The book has caused a great deal of controversy due to the fact that it is written about an actual American high school. It has caused trouble within the actual Aliso Niguel High School, due to the extremely negative light in which it depicts the school. Students have reacted angrily to the book and have raised allegations of slander. [1]
