Haywood Franklin Jeffires (born December 12, 1964 in Greensboro, North Carolina), was a former American professional football player who was selected by the Houston Oilers in the 1st round (20th overall) of the 1987 NFL Draft. A 6'2", 198 lbs. wide receiver from North Carolina State University, Jeffires played in 10 NFL seasons from 1987-1996. He played most of his career with the Oilers during the "Run & Shoot" era with Warren Moon. A 3-time Pro Bowl selection from 1991-1993, Jeffires led the AFC in receptions in 1991 with 100.
Jeffires is currently coaching the Bay Area Gamblers, a semipro football team in Pearland, Texas.
The Haywood Jeffires Fan Club, a group spread across 50 states and 7 continents, is looking to buy a domain space to dedicate to the fan club of their hero. At the moment, the domain name haywoodjeffires.com is unavailable. But the group continues to lobby for Jeffires to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, based primarily on his historic 1991 season.
