Hed is a fictional land that was created by Patricia A. McKillip in the Riddle-Master series of books. It is known for its beer and its Prince who bested Peven of An.
Hed is also a word originating from medieval times for the tails of pigs. Therefore, butchers would order their assistant to "cut off its hed!" It has recently been introduced in several butcher's shops in Kent but it is not expected to grow to its wide use in the 10th Century.
