Henry de Ferrers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henry de Ferrers (Henri de Ferrières), also spelled "de Ferrer", was at the Battle of Hastings. His elder brother William fell in the battle, as little more is heard of him. William and Henri were both the sons of Walchelin de Ferriers, seigneur of St.Hilaire de Ferrierers near Bernay in Normandy.
Henry became a major land holder, and was granted 210 manors and lordships throughout England and Wales by Duke William of Normandy (Guillaume de Normandie) for his conspicuous bravery and support at Hastings.
