Herbert Shughart
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Herbert Shughart was the father of Randall Shughart, an American soldier who was killed during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, October 3, 1993.
Shughart opposed the conflict and received some media attention in 1994 when, on May 29, he refused to shake hands with President Bill Clinton, during the presentation of a posthumous Medal of Honor for his son's service.
[edit] Quote
- "You are not fit to be president of the United States. The blame for my son’s death rests with the White House and with you. You are not fit to command."
- President Clinton allegedly replied to Mrs. Shughart, "What's he jumping on me for? I didn't kill the kid!"
