Hickory Flat, Georgia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hickory Flat is located in southeastern Cherokee County, about two miles east of Holly Springs. The community is located along an old Native American trading route and is one of the county's earliest white settlements (see map). Today, Hickory Flat is a bucolic, mostly rural area, but new residential and commercial developments are quickly "suburbanizing" the community.
The town has three main schools side-by-side located on Hickory Road: Hickory Flat Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle School, and Sequoyah High School. Hickory Flat Elementary was built in 1903, marking the location of the center of the town. In 2005, Messiah Montessori School opened, providing the first private school in the area.
