Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University

Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University is a university in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, next to Ho Chi Minh City Natural Sciences and Humanities University and opposite from HTV. The university offers graduate and postgraduate education in medicine, pharmacy. The university is also running its own hospital. The university now have 7 faculties: Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Faculty of Community Health Care, Medicine Technique and Convalescent Faculty, Tooth-Jaw-Face Faculty.

The university with today's name was founded in 1976 but the University of Saigon, the precursor of today's university was founded in 1941 by French cololonists in the period of French Indochina. In 1961, the university was split into two: Medicine University of Saigon and University of Pharmacy of Saigon. In 1964, University of Dental Care of Saigon was founded from a division of Medicine University. In 1976, these two universities were merged into today's name university.
