Homestead Spartan Alliance Band

The Homestead High School Spartan Alliance Band is a marching band from Fort Wayne, Indiana. They are currently a Class A Band in ISSMA. For the past twenty years they have gone to the ISSMA State Finals at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.
Homestead's Spartan Alliance Band is one of the premier marching bands in the United States. They have won four State Championships (1992, 1994, 1995, 1996), the second most of any band in Class A in Indiana and tying one other (the first being the Ben Davis Marching Giants and the tie being the Avon Marching Black and Gold). Since entering Class A in 1992 they have never finished lower than fourth place at State Finals, and have been either first or second eleven times. They have competed in competitions in Hawaii, Florida, Arizona, and California. Recently they were crowned runner-up at the National Field Show Competition in Phoenix, Arizona at the Fiesta Bowl. In 2000 they were crowned the Blue Cross Blue Shield Grand Champions at the same competition. They have also participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
They are also one of the largest high school marching bands in the country, posting numbers of over 200 members each year. The band had 266 members in the 2006 season.
The Band Director is Steve Barber. His Assistant Director is Brad Wadkins. They hold practices with the band every day of the school week. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the band practices from after school until 5 PM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the band holds rehearsal from 6 to 8:30 PM. Often the band practices 4 or 5 hours on Saturdays before a competition.
For 2006 their show was themed "Within" featuring music by composer Michael Kamen. They received third place at ISSMA Class A State Finals.
In 2005 they were ISSMA State Runner-Up. The 2005 show was themed "Balance."
In 2004 they were ISSMA State 4th Place. The 2004 show was themed "Half the Fun is Getting There."
In 2003 they were ISSMA State Runner-Up. The 2003 show was themed "Gravity."
