From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Huntington is a major station for the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Railroad. It is located near New York Avenue (New York State Route 110) and Broadway in Huntington Station, New York, but is also accessible from Lenox Road, and Fairground Avenue near East Second Street.
The station serves two different bus systems: Suffolk County Transit's S1 route and Huntington Area Rapid Transit's H9 route. Taxi service is also provided, as it is with other stations.
Huntington Station was built in 1909, and throughout much of the 20th Century served as a transfer point between electrified portion and diesel portion of the Port Jefferson Branch. It also once served as the southern terminus of the Huntington Trolley Spur.
