Huskisson Dock

The Huskisson Dock is a dock, on the River Mersey and part of the Port of Liverpool it is situated in the northern end of the dock system, connected to Canada Dock to the north and Sandon Half Tide Dock to the south. It opened in 1852.
This dock is named after William Huskisson, MP, to recognise his political impact on Liverpool.
It was the site of the SS Malakand explosion during the Liverpool Blitz, on May 3, 1941 in World War II when 1000 tons of explosives on board the ship were ignited.
