I of Newton is a 1970 short story by Joe Haldeman which first appeared in Fantastic Stories magazine. It was later adapted as an episode of The New Twilight Zone.

A professor (played on TV by Sherman Hemsley) accidentally summons the (or perhaps just a) Devil (Ron Glass), who gives the professor a chance to save his soul, by setting the Devil a challenge he cannot fullfil. The professor is allowed to ask three questions first; on learning that the Devil can find his way back from any point in the multiverse, the professor rids himself of the Devil with a simple command: Get Lost.

In the TV version the Devil's t-shirt displays a different slogan in each shot.
