Intelligent Energy Executive Agency
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA) [1] was created by the European Commission to implement the ‘Intelligent Energy – Europe’ programme. It is the first of a number of new Executive Agencies created by the European Commission to put policies into action more efficiently and effectively, and to help the Commission concentrate on its policy-making and institutional tasks.
The remit of the Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA) is to implement the Intelligent Energy – Europe (IEE) programme. While the agency has its own legal identity, it reports to the Directorate-General for Transport and Energy, which remains responsible for programming and evaluation of the IEE programme.
It is a temporary agency, due to remain in operation until the end of 2008, although it is likely to take charge of the planned second Intelligent Energy – Europe programme covering the period 2007-13.
