[edit] I don't agree with your edits of Dizzy Gillespie
I disagree and said so on the talk page of User talk:Jeff3000 where you already made a similar argument. You also seem to have a reputation about removing certain kinds of content from comments on your talk page even though you just cleaned your talk page. Noting his faith and ethnicity is not "micro-characterization" in this case. I see what *you* did as against Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(biographies)#Opening_paragraph. Dizzy Gillespie is a singularly well known Baha'i - probably the best known one[1], which also played important roles in his life and music as amplified in the main text, and being African-American is a key aspect of his life and music. Please revert your edits. --Smkolins 17:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] re: Anti-globalization and antisemitism
I contested the prod here. Please take the article to AfD -- I agree with your concerns, but I think the article merits further discussion. It is well-sourced, at least, and not entirely POV. --N Shar 06:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vote Canvassing
Please do not spam other pages asking for people to vote. It is against policy. Paul Cyr 21:10, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Before I posted my announcements on the pages in question, I made a very careful review of what constitutes acceptable and unacceptable Wikipedia canvassing practices. Following the guidelines, 1) the scale of my posting was limited (only four talk pages); 2) the message was neutral (no opinion was offered; just an invitation to 'come on over and vote'); and 3) the audiences chosen were bipartisan (the Neutrality talk page, the Britanny Spears talk page, the Anna Nicole Smith talk page, and the Windows Vista talk pages are not exactly packed with editors who have an axe to grind in the anti-Globalization/anti-Semitism debate). If you feel that my actions were nevertheless "spam" and "against policy", could you provide a Wiki link which countermands the link I referred to? J.R. Hercules 21:31, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Canvassing may be okay, but canvassing for Anti-globalization and antisemitism on Anna Nicole Smith, Britney Spears, and Windows Vista, which aren't obviously related, seems odd. —tregoweth (talk) 23:47, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I think the boilerplate explains, "However, [the guideline] is not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception." Common sense being that canvassing on pages that have nothing to do with the issue, does not fall under what is acceptable. I'm not trying to grill you, I'm just asking for you to not do this in the future. Paul Cyr 02:29, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for your insights on Haiduc's editings in Michelangelo and Leonardo
Again, my concern with such stuff is that it is agenda-driven poorly substantiated drivel. It also becomes troublesome to try to delete stuff which cites un-refuted drivel (which is different from irrefutable fact). It goes back to the philosophical point that it is hard to find a citation to refute the following statement:
"female giraffes bounce when thrown of skyscrapers" why? Not because the above statement is true, but because who cares about even publishing about the fact that "female giraffes don't bounce..."
Haiduc pulls out some guy who claims Leonardo was a pederast, therefore, since no one says that he isn't, by default, he becomes one.
Oy veigh. My head spins. CARAVAGGISTI 00:17, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
