"Jack and the Creature" is the seventh episode of Samurai Jack's third season. The episode aired on May 3, 2003.
[edit] Plot
On his mission to find a way to the past, Jack finds an enormous and overly friendly creature who decides, with his reluctancy, to follow him. When Jack finds the "Crystal of Cagliostro", a jewel that can lead him back to the past, the creature accidentally destroys it by eating it.
Jack, angry with the creature, leaves without it. Right then, he encounters a band of rockabilly-themed robot bounty hunters that are pursuing him. The bounty hunters are about to defeat Jack, when the creature appears, and after seeing his friend in trouble, transforms in a horrific monster and destroys the bounty hunters.
[edit] Trivia
- The crystal Jack quests for is referred to as the "Crystal of Cagliostro", a likely reference to the Lupin III film The Castle of Cagliostro. It is helped by the fact that the titular creature has more than a passing resemblance to the big Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro, also written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
