Jacob Dahlin

Jacob Dahlin, born 13 May 1952 in Kristianstad, Skåne, Sweden, dead 10 October 1991, died of AIDS, was a popular Swedish TV- and Radio-host.
Dahlin got his big break-through with the radio-program Galaxen, the galaxy, in the beginning of the 1980s. He later continued with poplular TV-shows as "Jacobs Stege" (Jacob's stair) and "Caramba!".
In his radio show, famous Swedish comedian Täppas Fogelberg also participated. In almost every episode of his TV-show Jacobs Stege, Jacob did his famous quote "Skål, ta mig fan!" (Cheers, for crying out loud!) who still are popular among drinkers while having a cheer.
Dahlin had done big studies in Russian language and often reported about happenings in the Russian popular culture. He also went to Moscow with his TV-show Jacobs Stege and did a big broadcasting together with one of the most popular TV-shows in Russia at that time, The Morning Post, with Jurij Nikolajev as host. Nikolajev later got invited to Sweden to Jacobs Stege, and he brought with him russian super star Alla Pugacheva, who later became good friend with Jacob and was a frequent guest to his TV-show.
Jacob Dahlin also did some recordings with Alla Pugacheva, first the single "Superman" where he and Alla was dueting. This later led to that Alla got to record her first and to this date only entire english-speaking album, Alla Pugacheva in Stockholm, who was released in 1985.
Other guests to his program was for example Diana Ross, Boy George, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Cher, Donna Summer and many more.
Dahlin died in 1991 because of AIDS. Dahlin was homosexual. When Alla Pugacheva was participating in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997 with her song Primadonna, she honoured the by then dead Jacob by saying "This song is for you, Jacob" while doing an interview.
