[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Jamyskis, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 00:47, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Willie Morris Bioff

The above is now a fat little article. Cheers. -- BDAbramson thimk 20:19, 2005 May 13 (UTC)

When changing your vote on VfD, it's customary (and helpful to the discussion closer) to strike out your previous vote(s) with <s></s> tags. Cheers, androidtalk 21:03, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] USS Constellation

Are you thinking of the "USS Constellation" in The Doomsday Machine by any chance? AlistairMcMillan 22:01, 28 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki-Hell

Unfortunately, Wiki-Hell is not in the article namespace - but feel free to send vandals and spamvertisers there nonetheless! Cheers. -- BD2412 talk 04:24, 2005 Jun 2 (UTC)

I had wondered if it was worthwhile creating a seperate page on Wiki-Hell :-p Jamyskis 12:18, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Tongrentang

Hi. Tong Ren Tang is rewritten. Cheers. -- BD2412 talk 16:56, 2005 Jun 13 (UTC)

[edit] Tom Barnard

Howdy. You voted to delete the initial version of Tom Barnard (VfD) , and rightly so, but I've made some substantive improvements to the article. I don't have any particular attachment to the article or its subject, so if you still feel that it ought to be deleted (not notable, etc.), that's fine by me; just thought I'd let you know. Cheers, AиDя01DTALKEMAIL 03:42, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image source/licensing for Image:C64gs.jpg

The image you uploaded, Image:C64gs.jpg, has no source information. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be marked for deletion on 24 October 2005.

This message notification has been automatically sent by NotificationBot managed and run by AllyUnion. Please leave comments regarding bot operations at AllyUnion's talk page. Please direct all comments regarding licensing information at Wikipedia talk:Images for deletion. --NotificationBot 13:29, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Lord of the Rings Peer Review

Thank you for your enthusiasm in nominating LOTR for peer review. However, I fear that you were (in the words of the Ents) "hasty". The entire directions on nominating an article for peer review were at the top of the peer review page. Here they are, for future reference:

===How to make a request===

  • Anyone can request peer review here. When posting your request, include a brief description of the kind of comments/contributions you want, and sections of the article you think need to be reviewed. The best way to get lots of reviews is to reply promptly and appreciatively on this page to the comments you do get.
  • Procedure for adding nominations:
  1. Place {{peerreview}} at the top of the article's talk page (not the article itself) to let other editors of the article know that the article is being peer reviewed.
  2. From there, click on the link request has been made that appears in the new "peer review" box. This will open a page to discuss the review of your article.
  3. Place ===[[name of nominated article]]=== at the top (do not forget the link brackets).
  4. Below it, write your reason for nominating the article and sign by using four tildes (~~~~).
  5. Place {{Wikipedia:Peer review/name of nominated article}} at the top of the list of nominees found on this page (Requests).
  6. Politely request feedback on the discussion pages of one or more articles in the same or a related field, and/or send messages to one or more individual Wikipedians who have contributed to the same or a closely related field.

I have already fixed your peer review (since I was watching the George Washington Peer Review which you added it to), and the LOTR peer review can now be found here, or at the top of the peer review page. Thanks, and happy editing! --Trevdna 17:33, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding your comments

I would like to point out to you that I never offered WP:IAR as a justification for my actions. That you say that I do suggests that you haven't actually read any of my statements on the affair. Please read what I've wrote, rather than what my detractors are saying about me, and reconsider whether your vote and your comments are grounded in fact. Thank you. Kelly Martin (talk) 14:03, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

So, in other words, you choose to disregard what I actually say in favor of the words put into my mouth by others. You're free to do that, but you must understand that doing so does not exactly endear me to have faith in your good faith. Kelly Martin (talk) 14:36, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

RfC would definitely be warranted as both Tznkai and KillerChihuahu left polite requests for cooperation on his or her talk page in December. I wouldn't know where to begin with this, though, because I've never done something like it before. -Kyd 20:55, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lord Voldemort

I think you're getting a bit hasty to try and dispute articles. I don't really think there is a iron-clad peice of information for material which belondgs solely in the realms of fiction. the idea of Voldemort's stature is tacit within the text itself, and doesn't really need to be extrapolated into anything more scientific. [edit] Gybarna

Hi, you have commented the site i have put on about Joseph Knoll. Unfortunatly I am not him. This guy have invented the cure of parkinsons and alzheimer and made other valuable researches to society. He has been teaching pharmacology in the univesrsity of medicine in Budapest for 50 years now. If you punch his name into any engine there will be millions of links concerning his works as he was to be nominated for the nobel as well. I am a student of his and happy to help in any concerns you have about getting information about his works. I just wasnt sure how detailed i can get on this subject in this platform. Enjoying your work, keep it up. Regards, George

[edit] Barnstar

Yay! Thank you so much. I go to bed wondering, "Am I ever going to get a Barnstar?," and, blam, there it is in morning! If that doesn't put the wind back in my sails, I don't know what will. :-) -Kyd 22:55, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wonder Boy

Hi there! I'd be happy to help you clean up the Wonder Boy articles. I'm a bit busy just now, but over the coming weeks I'll try and contribute. In the meantime I'm working on Human Biology articles in line with my studies including the Reflex mecahnism.

[edit] User talk:147.188.244.157

Looks like someone else has been, erm, "contributing" from this machine. That gave me a surprise, seeing a "You have new messages notice" before I'd even logged in. Unfortunately, I didn't see who it was; obviously if I do catch someone vandalising from here I will have a word with them -- Gurch 16:12, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

I think I might have gotten the wrong IP for whatever reason - sorry. Jamyskis Whisper, Contribs Germany 18:38, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
This is one of a cluster of about 100 public computers used by over 5000 individuals. So you probably were right. Chances are there's a vandal among them somewhere. (But at least there's also an active contributor!) -- Gurch 18:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Vandalism of my Userpage

Thanks dude, i owe ya one for checking the vandalism of my userpage. Well i've tracked down that guys IP. It originates from somewhere near Reading. Is it possible to completely block his IP from Wiki? Or possibly write to his ISP about his persistent vandalism. I s'pect he uses a public computer to vandalise Wikipedia.

[edit] Please explain

A few days ago this message appeared after I inadvertently edited my user page without signing in. I don't understand the part about "experiment" although it seems that it is possibly sarcastic. What is your function on WP that you somehow became involved in this? What exactly was "reverted"? This perplexed me. Thank you in advance for responding. --Edivorce 14:20, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Your edit must have been mistaken for vandalism. I expect that was a genuine mistake. The message is from a standard template (Template:Test1), but I don't think it's meant to be sarcastic. --StuartBrady 15:14, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for responding. I'm glad that no disrespect was intended. I think you should look at the language of the template. Surely inadvertent failures to log in are common, and must be more common than deliberate vandalism. I would still like you to clarify your role, what tools you have access to monitor such actions. The template does not provide any information concerning this. Again, thanks.--Edivorce 00:45, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank for the truly informative response to my questions. I think it was exemplary. I see below that you have and presumably will in the future seek to be an administrator. Based on our exchange in this matter I would be happy to support you in your endeavor--Edivorce 21:49, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your request for adminship

It is with regret that I have to inform you that your request for adminship was unsuccessful on this occasion. Keep with it, and I look forward to seeing a nomination with your name on it again in the future. -- Francs2000 15:51, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Best of luck in a future RFA. FYI, my own personal standard for self noms is ~2000 edits and six active months, though other RFA voters may have higher or lower standards. Just keep up the good work and learn what you can on some of the Wikipedia policies and procedures, and you'll likely be successful in the future. --Deathphoenix 16:30, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, That was close. I suggest you run again in a few weeks. Until then, be active and help people out. Krashlandon (e) 22:09, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I was the first voter on your rfa and voted neutral - I believe that all the concerns voiced by voters can be easily addressed by you. Keep up the activity levels for the next three months or so and I am sure that your rfa will pass easily. --Gurubrahma 15:33, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Samuel Alito

I see you reverted vandalim by 206.192.112.253, for some reason I cannot revert. Could you revert once more?-- Holland Nomen Nescio 15:06, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Oops, vandal reverted himself. That's why it didn't work, it already was reverted.--Holland Nomen Nescio 15:09, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Hi Jamyskis, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 10:30, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for yer appreciation

Thank you for your appreciation towards my barnstar! However, as an active member of the WP:KC, I'd advice you to remove the "missing barnstar" because it's a tag for we KC people to identify who seeks an award.

I really hope you can take my advice (to reduce the burden of KC people), but what you really do is up to you.

Thanks. Deryck C. 14:58, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New wiki

Hi, I'm currently going around looking for people who might be interested in a new wiki I'm involved in. It's for people with depression, and I see you have a depression userbox on your page. The wiki is part of Wikicities Jimbo and Angela's wiki hosting project. Hopefully it will grow into a real resource for everyone suffering from depression as well as a wiki community. If you want to have a look, the site is at http://depression.wikicities.com . There's not much there yet, but hopefully enough to give an idea of where it will go. I hope you'll call in. Thanks for reading -- sannse (talk) 12:13, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CDVF

Could you possibly provide me with some help? I just installed Linux (Using GNOME) and I can't seem to get CDVF to work. Do you know of any dependencies I need, or how to call the jar from shell? Any help would be appreciated. --lightdarkness (talk) 03:34, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response, I actually got it working about 20 minutes after I left you the message, forgot to let you know. Thanks though! --lightdarkness (talk) 12:26, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] PSP Greatest Hits

Hi. I see you did some adding for the "PSP Budget Titles." That's great, but I'm just gonna move it into the List of PlayStation Portable Greatest Hits games, because it shouldn't talk about just European and US prices; but all "Greatest Hits" Prices.

[edit] Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Jamyskis! Wishing you a very happy birthday and an awesome upcoming year! Don't forget to save us all a piece of cake!

Best regards from the Birthday Committee and myself! --lovelaughterlife♥talk? 03:45, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
