Japanese corvette Hiei (1877)

The Hiei (比叡) was an 1878 armored corvette of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was designed by Edward James Reed and built in Great Britain.
She was delivered to Japan by a British crew, with the future admiral Togo Heihachiro onboard, who had just completed 6 years of study in Great Britain.

History: Damaged in the Battle of Yalu River (1894). Served on Surveying Duties until 1 April, 1911 when she was stricken from the lists.
