"Jefferson Barracks was designated the first "Infantry School of Practice," the first basic training site for the Army."
Please tell me where you found this statement? I am an Army retiree who has studied the history of the Army, and am writing about Army units and installations elsewhere on Wikipedia, and I can say knowingly that this is not true. Indeed, the first Basic Training posts for the US Army were the State Militia training posts in each State, and the first formal Basic Training Post was located at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, during the Revolution. Washington was the Commander, and Von Steuben was the Senior Trainer. Jeffe3rson Barracks came a long time after Valley Forge.
