Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7, 1979 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American film actress. She is mostly known for her role as the possessed Emily Rose in the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
Jennifer was trained in high school at the prestigious Walden Theatre Company in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, Jennifer attended The Juilliard School in New York City. Prior to graduation she was cast in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, starring Liam Neeson and Laura Linney.
She is currently playing Debra Morgan in the Showtime television series, Dexter. The series premiere aired on October 1, 2006.
