The Jintian Uprising (金田起義) occurred on January 11, 1851, during the late Qing Dynasty of China, in what is now Guiping City in eastern Guangxi province.
A ten-thousand-strong rebel army led by Hong Xiuquan routed the Imperial troops at the town of Jintian. This marked the beginning of the Taiping Rebellion.
