[edit] Replacable
No images made by the British government are available under a free license prior to the 50-year expiration of Crown Copyright. Since Prescott hasn't been in government service for this long, I can't see how this image is easily replacable (provided no USGov image turns up). In addition, as the image is under Crown copyright, its terms of use are likely to be far more lenient than any random copyrighted image found elsewhere and uploaded under a Fair Use rationale. Unless a counterargument is put forward, I'll remove the notice after a few days. GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 09:51, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
I agree. An official government photo subject to Crown Copyright seems far better than other photos upon which the copyright will belong to a private body. Posting such a photo for information is hardly a breach of Crown Copyright. Unless a Wikipedian has their own personal photo of Prescott to replace it with, this photo should stand. - Prescott is, however, a public figure, and it would be possible for someone to take a freely licensed photo of him (at, say, a speaking engagement). Thus, the image fails fair use criterion #1; I am going to delete it. --RobthTalk 23:18, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
