The Journal of the Optical Society of America A is a publication of the Optical Society of America. It covers various topics in optics, vision and image science. The title is often abbreviated J. Opt. Soc. Am. A or simply JOSAA.
JOSA A's lineage traces back to the original Journal of the Optical Society of America, the first issue of which was in 1917. In 1984, JOSA split into two separate journals: JOSA A and JOSA B. 2008 will mark the 25th anniversary of this split.
