STONEHOUSE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
Stonehouse is a small town at the bottom of the Cotswolds with a industrial and busy feel to it. The nearest major town is Stroud and the major city being Gloucester. The county it is in is called Gloucestershire.
MAJOR PLACES:
Stroud-Water Canal:-
This canal is disused but the British Waterways are currently working on making it useable for small boats and doing it up as at the moment it is full of trollies and rubbish. Most parts of the canal are wonderful and it is currently being done up with the Ebly Mill area near Stroud and with housing estates being built to meet the purposes of the canal. Recently there has been alot of media surrounding the mystery of a small crocodile being in the canal which included I.T.V. West doing a report on it.
Stonehouse Train Station:-
Due to its location Stonehouse Train Station is just two platforms and a small waiting area but serves on some major services including Wessex Trains and the big Great Western Railway which runs through stations like Bristol Temple Meads, Gloucester, Reading, Swindon, Kemble and finally at Paddington Station in London.
St Cyr's Church:-
The main church of Stonehouse (despite there being many) is situated next to the Stroud-water Canal next to the two graded manor house which is Stonehouse Court Hotel. The church and the top *** hotel make a fantastic wedding venue.
The High Street:-
There is quite a historic street in Stonehouse with the old designed doctors surgery and pharmacy. With a bakery which has been in Stonehouse for many many years. But there are also the modern shops for every day things like the Co-op, post office and other newsagents including housing estate agents. There is plenty of car parking in Stonehouse with the co-op car park and also the huge car park behind the doctors surgery - but you must pay for the use of this car park.
