Kastania (Pieria), Greece

Ano Kastania is a village in the Vatika Region of Greece. It dates from Byzantine times, and Byzantine churches are still in evidence. It is a picturesque mountain village situated at the beginning of a large gorge leading down to a pleasant beach. wealth derives from its surrounding farm land and from shipping. In recent years this pretty village has become known for its nearby cave to which now has access available to the public.
