Kenny Klein

Kenny Klein is a Folk and Country musician, a published author, and an elder and High Priest of the Blue Star tradition of Wicca. Born in New York City in 1955, Kenny developed an interest in British Folk music at an early age, and pursued the fiddle and other stringed instruments. He studied music in New York through his college years, taking lessons from fiddle great Matt Glaser, and learning Country and Appalachian music on the streets of Greenwich Village. In the early '80s Kenny spent time in Europe studying Gypsy violin. He returned to New York City in '81 and settled in the Punk Rock infested East Village.
Through his interest in British music, Kenny discovered the Wiccan community. He learned a great deal about traditional Scottish Witchcraft from New York merchant Eileen Campbell Gordon, and then joined Blue Star, becoming the High Priest of that tradition in 1983.
Kenny married Tzipora Katz the same year, and the two left New York to play music throughout the U.S. In doing so, they established Blue Star groups across the continent. Kenny and Tzipora recorded several albums on Kicking Mule Records, and several independent albums.
In 1992 Kenny and Tzipora divorced, and Kenny began a solo music career. He also established the Rose and Antler coven of Blue Star.
In the early Nineties Kenny released several tapes on Blackthorn Records, and began finding a lucrative musical venue in renaissance festivals. Kenny began traveling, playing at various renaissance festivals throughout the U.S. In 1998 he released a CD of all original music, Muses, produced by Brewers' Witch Productions.[1][2]
Kenny currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and plays as a solo musician [1], and with the bands The Long Goners [2]and Junia May and the Hymns [3] (which are actually the same band playing Bluegrass material under one name and originals under the other). Kenny continues to teach Blue Star Wicca in the Rose and Antler coven, and plays concerts at renaissance festivals, Pagan festivals, and with his band in clubs and bars. The Long Goners currently record for CMH Records.
