I had placed a similar link on the article before, when I had the picture on another, now-defunct blog, and it was allowed to remain.

Hmm, you're right! Mea culpa on that portion (I'll strike my comments.) Still, it doesn't add anything to the article that isn't already there, and could be seen as self-aggrandizing advertisement for your blog. Personal blogs generally aren't linked from Wikipedia's articles, else we'd have to let everybody link their blogs. Even if the blog is adding information not available elsewhere? I don't see anything in the article about the sign controversy in his hometown, and I have been unable to post to anything in the local media, because all of the papers here only post on-line for two weeks.

Well, probably. Because you're basically saying "Hey guys, I'm representing this conflict properly, you'll have to trust me on it." It doesn't really meet Wikipedia's policies on reliable sources. But if we can find some sources that do, then the issue can certainly be touched on inside the article. What papers have covered it? The Flint Journal, and Detroit Free Press have done stories about the sign campaign and a related campaign to get Mike into the Davison High School Hall of Fame. Wonkette (http://www.wonkette.com/politics/personalities/dude-wheres-my-sign-101236.php) poked a bit of fun at the campaign, and the CNN blog reporters did a story during the since-cancelled "Inside Politics with Judy Woodruff". (transcript here: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0504/28/ip.01.html) On the Hall of Fame controversy, Bill O'Reilly came out on Mike's side (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,144844,00.html) In his "Ridiculous item of the day" for 1/19/05, he said "Now, whether you like Moore or not, he is famous, and just how many other people of his notability does Davidson (sp) High have anyway? It may be ridiculous. Moore should be in the school's fame hall. He's famous."

Well, I've given you some reading material, if you are interested. I am now going to read up on Wikipedia code so I know how to sign my comments.

I'll take a look a little later -- I'm moving next weekend, so this weekend I need to really buckle down. Of course, so what am I doing? Messing around with Wikipedia. Well, if you do get a chance (being a Wikipedia moderator alone must be a full-time job, let alone moving) let me know if those sources given are adequate for writing a whole article on the Hall of Fame and sign campaign. I'll also look once again at the policies on reliable sources. I'd rather get your opinion first before writing it, just to have it deleted.172.136.22.174 16:27, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
