Kitty Contana
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kitty Contana is a band from Roeloafrendsveen, The Netherlands. They play funpop, with elements of disco and hardrock.
The band was founded by Roel Betonville, ex-Dog's Nop. After disbanding his last band, he wanted to write and play pure popsongs. He was soon joined by Dave den Hartog, who had played with the punkrock coverband Only Entertainment. The duo launched a website http://www.kittycontana.nl, under the name of the fictional character Kitty, on which they presented their new-written songs.
After some home recordings a complete band was formed, with Roel and Dave joined by Bo Koek and Mathijs Felix (both ex-Kopna Kopna) and Pieter van der Geest (ex-Dog's Nop).
In this formation the band started touring, playing everywhere, anyhow; with bandmembers regulary replaced by substitutes, to play as much gigs as possible. They soon got a huge following.
In 2005 the band played and won the final for Best band in Zuid-Holland (De grote prijs van Zuid-Holland). One of the rewards was een recording contract by which they recorded their 11 song debut album.
Meanwhile the band still post new songs on their website, while a second album is on the way.
