Koins are a form of currency in the fighting game Mortal Kombat. It was first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and is subsequently used in Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
There are six forms of Koins:
- Ruby
- Jade
- Sapphire
- Onyx
- Gold
- Platinum.
Players can earn these koins by playing the various game modes Mortal Kombat has to offer such as Arcade, Puzzle Kombat, Konquest and Chess Kombat. In Armageddon, additional koins can be earned in Mortal Kombat. Armageddon also introduced a new inecentive to play Arcade. Performing long and powerful kombos would grant you koins.
These Koins are used to unlock coffins in the games' Krypt for new costumes, characters, artwork, etc.
If both players have a profile and koins, they can be used to wager a bet. This function is disabled online, however.
Mortal Kombat Armageddon eliminated the excess koins, and now only one koin kurrency is used; a golden dragon koin.
