KPLA

KPLA (101.5 FM) refers to a Cumulus radio station in Columbia, Missouri. KPLA first started out as an "easy listening" station, and since 1986 they have played "soft rock." KPLA broadcasts from the highest tower in Columbia, Missouri, reaching 70 miles within mid Missouri. They have a number of music programs, and have been voted number one for at work listening.

From 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock in the mornings every weekday, KPLA plays "Chris and Monica in the Morning." This is a program featuring Monica Senecal and Chris Kellogg. Some daily programs they do are:

Listener Talkback happens every weekday morning around 7:30 AM. This is where Chris and Monica read emails, letters, faxes, or phone calls they have gotten from KPLA listeners.

Celebrity Soup happens every weekday morning around 8:50 AM. Chris and Monica tell listeners all about what's the latest with the celebrities.

Most of the time, Chris and Monica have some sort of contest going on, but it varies. The Song of the Day, 5 Question Quiz, and New Look for a New Year are some contests they run at various times of the year. They also give out stuff such as tickets, money, and other things that the contest offers. The time that the contest is held also varies.
[edit] Recipe Thursday
This program is held Thursday mornings at 6:20 and 9:20. Either Chris or Monica brings in a dish that they've baked and shares the recipe. Later that day, the recipe will be posted online at KPLA's website.
[edit] News, School Closings, and more
Every morning, Chris and Monica will do up-to-date news every 30 minutes. If weather becomes a problem, they will say school closings every ten minutes. If other things arise, Chris and Monica will be the first to know about it, such as highway closings and more.

From 10 AM to 3 PM, Devin Bell is the DJ on 101.5 KPLA.

From 3 PM to 7 PM every weekday, Billy is the DJ on 101.5 KPLA.

From 7 PM to midnight every day, Delilah will play love songs and requests. Listeners can call or email Delilah to request and song or dedication, or have Delilah pick a song. She plays soft rock as well as love songs. During the holiday season, she will play Christmas tunes.

From midnight to 6 AM every morning, plus from 6 AM to 9 AM on Sunday mornings, John Tesh will tell "Intelligence for your life" and soft rock music.
[edit] American Top Ten with Casey Kacem
From 9 AM to noon on Sunday mornings, Casey Kasem hosts "American Top Ten" on KPLA. Along with Casey, you will hear the top ten soft rock hits in the USA that week. He will also "spotlight" other songs, such as songs featuring a body part or famous young singers. Another spotlight of this show is the "Long Distance Dedication", which happens once per show. A listener requests a song for a loved one, and Casey will play it. By noon, the top song in the USA will be heard, wrapping up American Top Ten.
